Shock as 8 health workers abducted, killed in southern Somalia

The bodies of at least 8 civilians have been found in Gololey area near Bal’ad town, Middle Shabelle region, southern Somalia.

Reorts say that the bodies belonged to health workers who were abducted yesterday by armed men from a health centre in Gololey area and their bullet-ridden bodies found today thrown on the main road in the area.

No one knows who was behind the heinous and cold-blooded murder of the civilians, however, they were reportedly abducted by armed men dressed in military uniform and driving vehicles similar to those used by the Somali army.

Two days ago, the militant group Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for a landmine blast near the area which targeted a military convoy and resulted in the killing of 8 Somalia National Army soldiers.

The Somali federal government has condemned the civilians’killings and called for a swift investigations to apprehend the perpetrators.

The bodies have been moved to the CID headquarters in the capital, Mogadishu.

The manner in which the civilians were abducted and killed has shocked many in the country.
